Jeff Gunn is a Toronto-based freelance guitarist and composer who has performed and taught music in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Jeff continues to tour the globe as lead guitarist with singer/activist Emmanuel Jal (author of the bestseller War Child), performs regularly with Kae Sun, and has shared the stage with Swizz Beatz, DMC, Jenna Andrews, Kate Todd, Alpha Yaya Diallo and South Africa’s Freshlyground. He has performed at such venues as The World Bank, Capitol Hill, Canadian Music Week, Festival d’ete de Quebec, Toronto Center for the Arts, and was recently featured on TED Talks and the TV Series "Guitar Picks" narrated by Kim Mitchell. He has toured and arranged with US artist Dwayne Britton (LML Music) who was honoured with ‘Top Ten Vocal Albums of 2008’ by Talkin’ Broadway. Their arrangement of Annie Lennox’s "Why" received much critical acclaim in the NY Daily News and in the UK by The Stage. Jeff contributed guitars to Morgan Sadler’s "Go On", the winner of ‘Best Song 2009-2010’ at The Toronto Independent Music Awards, and he is featured on Emmanuel Jal’s single "Lose to Win" from his album See Me Mama (2012). Jeff has also opened for Peter Gabriel, K’naan, and Feist.
Jeff received his BFA and BED in Music Education at York University, Canada. He has published over 60 articles in Canada, the US, the UK and in Thailand, in fields as diverse as music, travel, fashion and history. He was most recently published in Canadian Musician, holds a "guitar tips" column with The Guitar Magazine in Thailand, served as a "guitar tips" and "music travel" columnist with Muzik Etc (2008-2011), and has contributed to Thai Classic Guitar Magazine, Fashion Studio 7, YYZ Living, Verge Magazine and The Journal of World History (University of Hawaii Press).
