Ensemble for Classical Guitar
by J.S. Bach; transcribed by Davis Joachim
Taken from Bach's Sonata No. 1, which was originally conceived for two violins, viola da gamba and basso continuo, he originally reworked them during his Cothen period, into a seven movement sonata for keyboard. This piece includes two of those movements.
Davis Joachim's intention in transcribing these pieces for guitar was to retain the right and left hand keyboard division as much a possible and to make as few changes as possible.
It should be remembered that these two pieces are "dances" and should therefore be treated as such.
