Exercises for the fingering of triads in first inversions. This book is designed to assist in developing the ability to extend the fingers over a span of a sixth. Here the fingers take the position employed in playing the triads in the first inversion. This may be called the second basic position.
In proceeding up and down the keyboard, the fingers are required to stretch a little over or a little under the second basic position. With continued practice, the fingers will reach these distances more naturally and unconsciously until the movement in performance of pieces becomes easy. Ear training and analysis of the interval skips in the first measure of each exercise should be continued throughout book two. 24 Pages

CA$10.95
By John Ferris Loth
Exercises for the fingering of triads in root position. This book will develop perfect evenness of touch and finger action. The notation has been kept as simple as possible; only the white keys are employed, and no marks of shading or dynamics have been inserted.
Book 1 develops the basic principle of all piano playing, i.e. placing five consecutive fingers over a span of five consecutive keys. This is generally known as "the five-finger position", or the First Basic Position, the fingers taking the position required required in playing the root positions of the triads. 24 Pages
